Up coming xbox games

Learn more. Of course, no console is much without games - not even the "most powerful" in the world. That's why we've put together a list of the games that have either been confirmed already or hinted at coming to the Xbox Series X and S in the coming year or so.

Some will also be part of the monthly Xbox Game Pass membership scheme, which will save you a stack of money.

Another Ubisoft game with a release date that's shifting about a fair amount, Rainbow Six Extraction caused quite a stir during the company's E3 presentation although it was called Quarantine back then. It dispenses with the real-world combat-style themes of Siege - instead shifting to survival horror, with three-player teams battle goopy black aliens. Although Techland is yet to officially confirm Dying Light 2 is coming for next-gen machines, its release delay and sheer scope suggest that it is a shoo-in for the new consoles.

The game is a sequel to the amazing first-person parkour zombie-a-thon we're still playing to this day, but it takes the concept to an all-new level. Every action and decision you make in the game will affect the entire gameworld - with different factions growing and fading depending on your choices.

The next game from Hidetaka Miyazaki, Elden Ring looks like it will take the format the Dark Souls and its sequels made so popular and turn it on its head by embracing an open world and letting players decide what order they'll tackle it all in.

This gorgeous indie game has had a few demos that absolutely charmed us, and will hit Game Pass when it releases.

It's a top-down Zelda-like adventure that sees you take on the role of a small fox with plenty of power, and reminds us a lot of the excellent Death's Door.

Like The Elder Scrolls 6 below, little is known about Starfield right now. It is thought to be a sci-fi RPG though and something of a departure from the Fallout franchise - and, again, will be straight onto Game Pass when it releases. Sonic is going open-world, with this interesting looking new game that will continue the blue hedgehog's legacy.

We haven't seen much gameplay beyond the shots of the world contained in the trailer above, but it's sure to be fast-paced as always. We're finally ready to get back into a Rocksteady game, years after it last dropped some Batman goodness into our laps. This game will let players take on the roles of a few nasty pieces of work in the Suicide Squad, tasked with taking down corrupted versions of the Justice League's heros.

When we first saw the trailer, we thought someone was making a game of Ridley Scott's Prometheus - or the abandoned ship section of Alien. Scorn, from debut studio Ebb, is about as HR Giger-esque as it comes, with first-person horror overtones and creepy audio. Alongside vampires, human enemies dedicated to worshiping the vampires will also stand in your way, and hopefully your bullets' way.

The dark, atmospheric S. Its influence can be found quite clearly in series like Metro, and it helped spark an interest in Chernobyl-set video games, but the series itself had been on hold for over a decade. It had also been a PC exclusive up to this point, but S. Like its predecessors, it will put a heavy focus on survival as opposed to all-out action, and the character-creation tools allowed the developers to make shockingly realistic models--right down to their teeth.

The first Hellblade was a flawed but refreshingly unique take on the hack-and-slasher, combining it with a psychological horror tale focused on the mental health of Senua as she attempts to save her dead lover's soul. Now with the backing of Microsoft, formerly independent studio Ninja Theory is revisiting Senua with Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 , sending Senua to Iceland for reasons currently unclear.

Trailers showing in-engine footage--coupled with lead actor Milena Juergens' expressive physical acting--show that the power of the new systems should make for even more impactful moments when it eventually releases.

The next role-playing game from the legendary Bethesda Game Studios--and the first not involving The Elder Scrolls or Fallout-- Starfield is aiming for something remarkably different from either series. Its approach to science-fiction role-playing will be grounded in reality, fitting into the "hard sci-fi" subgenre associated with films like Arrival and The Martian.

Given the emphasis science-fiction games tend to put on realizing the impossible, this should certainly make Starfield stand out, and you can still expect immense scale and plenty of exploration opportunities when it hits Xbox Series X S and PC in November Zombie games are so common nowadays that you can barely go a week without a new one releasing, but Undead Labs' State of Decay games are unique in how they blend direct third-person action with base and resource management. The result is a story all your own, and one that often leads to unexpected outcomes.

With the studio now part of Microsoft, it will hopefully receive an even larger budget in order to polish State of Decay 3 when it eventually releases, as some bugs and a few other rough edges were among the only things holding its predecessor back from greatness. According to Square Enix, Stranger of Paradise will feel different from previous Final Fantasy games but still has "the blood of Final Fantasy [running] through its veins.

Team Ninja has a style and reputation of its own from the Ninja Gaiden series, and we're excited to see how those skills and sensibilities are applied to Final Fantasy. It's the studio's first new game since 's Arkham Knight, so we're excited to finally play Rocksteady's latest.

The game features members of the Suicide Squad you may remember from the films and comics, including Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Boomerang, and King Shark. A player co-op game, Kill the Justice League puts players on a mission to… kill the Justice League. Intriguingly, Rocksteady's Sefton Hill has said some of the narrative threads from the Arkham trilogy will carry forward to the new game, but the specifics are unclear. We're excited to see more of and finally play the game in Gearbox describes the game as an "epic high fantasy take on the looter shooter genre" that Gearbox pioneered with Borderlands.

Players will shoot, slash, and cast magical spells to try to take down the evil dragon lord. The game also supports co-op for up to four players, and endgame content that is replayable.

Obsidian Entertainment spent years making sequels to already-established IP like Fallout and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, but in recent years, it has been able to flex its creative muscles with wholly original creations. The Outer Worlds was a short-but-sweet first-person RPG that mixed biting political satire with great characters and a unique approach to character progression that allowed you to permanently hamstring your own abilities in order to increase them in another area.

The Outer Worlds 2 , now made with the company as an internal Microsoft studio, looks to improve on the original, hopefully making it just a bit longer in the process. Eagerly anticipated by several of us at GameSpot, Tunic --or "the cute fox game," as we like to call it--is a classic exploration action-adventure in the vein of Zelda, and the developer specifically took inspiration from the original game because of its lack of direction or clear objectives given to the player.

This is what encourages true exploration and discovery, which is at the heart of any good adventure game, and the puzzles will also not be so "video gamey" so as to break the immersion. With EA losing the exclusive Star Wars game license, Lucasfilm is turning to other studios to make new games, and one such project is a new title from Ubisoft for Xbox Series X.

The team that made The Division is taking on Star Wars next, but unfortunately there isn't much to go on. Ubisoft has said only that it's a "story-driven" game that uses The Division's Snowdrop engine.

The Division's Julian Gerighty is the creative director for the untitled new Star Wars game, which doesn't have a release date yet, but we're definitely excited about it.
