Renew gmrs license

Not sure if there is a mechanism for renewal of an expired GMRS license. After mine expired I applied for new license, new callsign. Perhaps someone else will have additional insight. I had someone here in town look into renewing their expired license but the waiver fee was hundreds of dollars; I'd call it a loss and just apply for a new one. I don't know if GMRS licenses are handled the same, but with amateur radio you can renew an existing license up to 2 years after it expires.

Beyond 2 years, the call sign is permanently gone and one would have to start over including taking the test s for the level desired.

The waiver note is bogus. Did the waiver 3 or 4 months after my GMRS license expired. At the end of the denial explanation, the FCC told me to just buy a new license.

Don't do the waiver process. Complete waste of money I had one around year expired in I saw what they wanted to charge me I just started over. You can post now and register later. Modification and Renewal Modification - You will not be able to file a Modification or Renewal Modification if the license is in termination pending status.

However, the inactive components will not be included in the application.
